Turtles have been major influences in mythology and origin stories for hundreds of years. They are one of the oldest symbols to represent the Earth. One of my favourite origin stories comes from the Seneca Haudenosaunee (Iroquois). When Mother Sky fell, the great Turtle rose from the waters to break her fall. 

This Turtle necklace features a piece of natural light blue turquoise from the Morenci mine. The turtle is all hand sawed, stamped, and polished smooth out of sterling silver. The silver has been patina darkened and sanded in places for maximum contrast. This design is Navajo inspired.
 

 It rests on a 20" darkened sterling chain with an easy to use s-hook clasp.
