Raterennotha' Turquoise and Deer Hide Statement Necklace
Raterennotha' Turquoise and Deer Hide Statement Necklace
Raterennotha' Necklace ™
This necklace is a song of the steady stream, the bubbling brook- of the river.
Raterennotha' is "sing" or "chanter" in Kanien'kehaka Haudenosaunee (Mohawk Iroquois).
The natural ribbon cut Royston turquoise with rhyolite host rock matrix echoes a stone found by the water. It is set in gold fill bezel surrounded by molten silver and a hand sawed sterling backing. Below dangle small "river rocks" made of molten fine and sterling with weaver patterns and a small Kingman mine turquoise. These dangle freely to echo the sounds of a river. All of the silver has been stamped, filed, patina darkened, and sanded for detail and contrast. It is topped with a dark silver "s-hook" clasp. A statement necklace for lovers of the Eastern Woodlands and song of the river, this piece is hefty and everlasting with the proper care.
Measurements:
The necklace is 17". The full length of the pendant portion is a little over 3". Necklace length cannot be adjusted.
*The deer hide I use I cut from full hides acquired from my local annual powwow where every part of the beautiful creature is used and not hunted for sport/trophy. The leather is high quality and doesn't flake like many commercial leathers - however please take care when wearing this as with all leather jewelry. Do not wear in the shower, pool, or during any other kind of wet activities.
As always comes sweetly packaged in a jewelry box ready for gifting.
